Job Description

The Shift Co-ordinator role is a critical part of the Production operation at Banbury. Required to lead, coach, empower and develop colleagues, they will ensure the team deliver sustainable results across the packaging and the warehouse.

With responsibility for all aspects of Safety, Quality, performance (SQCDSM) and continuous improvement the Shift Co-ordinator will drive safety and quality through positive behaviours developing a culture of high action orientation, drive for results and continuous improvement. 

The Shift Co-ordinator will be committed to putting people at the centre of the operation. Responsibilities;

  • Enforcing the expected standards of Safety, Hygiene, Environment, Energy, Quality and Food Safety.
  • To Work with the Shift Leads to set area standards for behaviours and accountability
  • Apply established standard processes and procedures – adhere and recommend improvements where necessary to the established standard operating procedures in the production and warehouse areas.
  • Analyse safety incidents immediately and implement short-term corrective actions, escalating to the shift lead where required and to the area management as required.
  • Inform shift associates and provide feedback and follow up of process improvement actions or equipment.
  • Achievement of operational targets on safety, quality and cost (Global efficiency)
  • Apply established standard processes and procedures. (MOS, BOS,Safety defects Kaizan RCA)
  • Working closely with site planning team in managing the daily delivery of the production plan.
  • Supporting the shift lead to establish and deliver OPS1 to Associate teams.
  • Support the shift lead to develop an environment that drives the commitment of your team,building a high perofrming, engaged workforce (impact sessions and Gallup action plan ...)
  • Anticipate and make a recommendation on the future skills needs of the organisation
  • Responsibility for departmental labour planning on shift
  • Delivery of packing AOP budget, driving reductions in Overtime through dynamic labour planning
  • Coach team members daily on operational and personal development topics (shift lead takes the lead here, to be supported by the shift co-ordinator)
  • Ensure quality feedback of information from and to the team
  • Train to be able to take the role of shift lead when the current incumbent is absent through holidays, planned training courses or sickness
  • Carry out daily tasks to support the shift lead to deliver the produciton plan, including but not exhastive:
    • Opening and closing production orders (SAP Phoenix and Topaz systems)
    • Place pallets on hold as required and communicate
    • GE waterfall reporting
    • Co-ordinate weekly stock cycle counts to be carried out by the shift associates
    • Carry out SHE scans and Food safety audits
    • Complete BOS conversations with associates and contractors and support the shift lead in closing out safety actions
    • Attend daily systems meetings – in addition to OPS – twice weekly meeting with planning and training
    • Be part of the fire team

Qualifications

Education

- GCSE Math’s and English or equivalent

 

Experience

- IOSH certified or willing to train.

- evidence of driving team engagement through leadership

Nice to have:

- Six Sigma qualified, Problem solving

This position is based at our Manufacturing site in Banbury. The Shift Co-ordinator is part of the Packing & Warehouse team which plays a key role in the wider Manufacturing function. The Manufacturing function ensures the integration of all key business processes from supplier to customers. The team covers sourcing, procurement, manufacturing, engineering, supply chain and planning processes, they ensure optimal alignment between demand and supply at a global scale.
